Erebus is the realm where Sovelonds dwell. It is eternally nighttime and only lit up by light posts, candles, and the glow of the moon. The land is endless and many locations still remain shrouded in darkness and entirely unexplored. Because of it's expansive nature, Erebus never runs out of space for the Sovelonds which inhabit it. There are many floating islands, waterfalls, rivers, lakes and a few forests.
One such river is made up of the tears of a fallen angel turned demon named Thamesis. This river flows down a large mountain in North Erebus, and all water within Erebus is said to have descended from it. Within the river, you can find Orbs of Sleep, which Sovelonds use to weave the dreams and nightmares of their Attachment, the being whose emotions created the Sovelond. Thamesis themselves lies atop Mount Tristall in a permanent slumber. They are said to have fallen from the sky and become a demon. Blinded by anger, Thamesis cursed all of the mortals on Earth to sleep forever. At once, all the humans fell into a deep slumber and the world was left in an uncanny and heavy silence. Thamesis immediately felt remorse for his hasty action and longed for the beautiful songs and sounds of the humans. After many attempts, they were able to awake the humans, however the humans were still cursed to sleep once per day. Thamesis fled to Erebus, which was empty upon their arrival. They fell into a permanent slumber as a result of trying to lift the curse they placed on the humans. Two Sovelonds were formed from the strong emotions felt from Thamesis' fall from Heaven and his curse to sleep forever. One named Ayla and the other Odin. Ayla and Odin are said to protect Thamesis and all the Sovelonds in Erebus, however no one knows what they look like. There are only rumors.
In the center, or as much of a center as a forever-expanding land of floating islands can have, there is a large marketplace where Sovelonds trade and sell their wares. This place is called The Heart, as it is a fundamental place for Sovelonds to interact and is, quite literally, the heart of the entire Erebus as it functions as a meeting place and a market, which makes it a very popular destination and bustling with activity. The Heart is full of stalls manned by Sovelonds, all of which have various wares from common clothes to strange creatures from other lands or magic items with different properties.
Besides The Heart and Mount Tristall, there are many small communities and gatherings of Sovelonds all over Erebus. These small villages vary greatly in culture and design depending on the area, but all Sovelonds are taught the legends of Thamesis, Ayla, and Odin. These communities are self-run and usually all have their individual leaders who take care of their own settlement. There is no central government or rules in Erebus, however most Sovelonds are peaceful towards others and stay in their own villages besides going to The Heart or on adventures in Erebus. Some Sovelonds choose to be solitary instead and live away from any community.
